The nature of immature avian erythrocytes in severe anaemia induced by phenylhydrazine.

چکیده

Hens were rendered severely anaemic by the use of phenylhydrazine and the characteristics of the polychromatic erythrocytes appearing in the blood examined. Even the least-dense polychromatic erythrocytes obtained after density fractionation of anaemic blood on BSA density gradients had a volume mode only 1-5 times that of mature erythrocytes. Also the immature cells always contained less haemoglobin than mature erythrocytes. It was concluded that in severe anaemia avian erythropoiesis still consists of only one cell line, and that cells do not miss divisions as is believed to be the case in mammalian erythropoiesis.

Amelioration of Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidant Enzymes Status in the Serum and Erythrocytes of Phenylhydrazine-Induced Anemic Male Rats: The Protective Role of Artichoke Extract (Cynara scolymus L.)

BACKGROUND: Hemolytic anemia is a disorder characterized by the premature erythrocytes destruction. Phenylhydrazine (PHZ) induces oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, which causes hemolytic anemia. Cynara scolymus due to its antioxidant compounds, has been used for various therapeutic purposes in traditional medicine. OBJECTIVES: The present study was designed to evalua...

The erythroid cells of anaemic Xenopus laevis. I. Studies on cellular morphology and protein and nucleic acid synthesis during differentiation.

Phenylhydrazine has been used to induce anaemia in Xenopus laevis. The dosage used causes the complete destruction of all mature erythrocytes within twelve days. The anaemia results in the initiation of a wave of erythropoiesis and large numbers of immature erythroid cells are released into the circulation. The morphological and biosynthetic changes which these cells undergo as they differentia...

Phenylhydrazine haematotoxicity

Phenylhydrazine (PHZ) and its derivatives were first given a medical application at the end of the 19th century but with very little benefit. However, this compound seems to be very useful in models studying mechanisms of haemolytic anaemia. Phenylhydrazine induces a reactive oxygen species formation, peroxidation of lipids and oxidative degradation of spectrin in the membrane skeleton. PHZ-ind...

Antianaemic properties of ayurvedic drugs, raktavardhak, punarnavasav and navayas louh in albino rats during phenylhydrazine induced haemolytic anaemia.

Single injection of phenylhydrazine[PH] reduced the number of RBC and haemoglobin content; decreased myeloid; erythroid cell ratio in bone marrow and increased Cathepsin D activity in spleen of rats. Ayurvedic drugs raktavardhak, punarnavasav and navayas louh recovered the number of RBC and haemoglobin content and raised myeloid: erythroid cell ratio and normalised cathepsin D activities by cou...

Evidence for erythrocyte-specific histone modification and structural changes in chromatin during goose erythrocyte maturation.

Regenerating blood of geese suffering from phenylhydrazine anaemia was separated into ' mature' and ' immature' cell populations by centrifugation through a barrier of BSA. Socalled 'mature cells' consisted of mainly mature erythrocytes and 'immature cells' included twothirds polychromatic and younger erythroblasts. Histone proteins, dissociated from isolated nuclei of both populations of cells...
